HonorBridge Relocating to Chapel Hill

HonorBridge, North Carolina’s largest lifesaving organ and tissue donation organization, has announced their intent to relocate their headquarters from Durham to Chapel Hill. The company, whose service area includes over 100 hospitals and four transplant centers, serves over 7.2 million people in North Carolina and Virginia.

“We are excited about our move to Chapel Hill,” said Danielle Bumarch, RN, JD, President and CEO, HonorBridge. “Our new office will enable us to better honor the gifts of life from our donors, increase our meeting spaces, serve our communities, and provide additional surgical suites to ultimately save and heal more lives.”

HonorBridge’s future building will be easily accessible from I40 and centrally located between the four transplant centers of Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, Duke University Medical Center in Durham and UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.

“The Town of Chapel Hill is proud to announce that HonorBridge will be moving into our Enterprise Zone,” said Mayor Pam Hemminger. “This organization saves lives and we are honored that they have selected Chapel Hill. Two years ago, the Town Council created this new zone on Millhouse Road to attract growing companies here and we are thrilled to see our strategic vision becoming a reality.”

“Council’s goal for the district is to bring more jobs, tax revenues, and new companies to the town” said Economic Development Officer Dwight Bassett who went on to mention that proximity to the mixed-use Carraway Village and easy access to transit made the site attractive to company leaders when choosing Chapel Hill. “These days, companies are looking for places that provide opportunities for employees to live, work, shop and play nearby,” said Bassett.

HonorBridge has worked closely with Bold Development Group to bring this project forward. “The Enterprise Zone is a very forward thinking concept by Chapel Hill,” said Chris Ehrenfeld, Bold Development Group. “This innovative zoning district allowed us to attract this highly regarded organization to Chapel Hill.”

A Zoning Compliance Application was submitted to the Town. Upon approval, HonorBridge will close on the property and begin construction on a 50,000 SF building, which will house 70 of its 130 employees.
