Quilt Square

Created in honor of Melvin Eugene Collins

Most of his friends called him “Mel” but his family members called him Gene. Gene was a Welder and he worked in different parts of the United States.  He always kept his hard hat with him because he never knew where his next job would be.  In 2003 he finally won his battle with alcoholism and became the speaker for AA. He had Nn Mel put on his license plate. Gene never met a stranger and he went out of his way to help anyone he could.
