Quilt Square

Created in honor of Timothy Sullivan Jr.

The quilt square that was made in memory of my husband, Tim, is the Irish Claddagh ring. The meaning behind the ring is simply; the hands are for friendship, which Tim had many; the heart is for love and Tim loved deeply; and lastly, the crown for loyalty.  Time was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and friend.

We all miss Tim terribly; His smile, his sense of humor, his big heart, his love of life. I try very hard not to dwell on his sudden death but try to remember the richness he brought to all of our lives. I like to believe that Tim lives on through our children, Melissa and Dan, and our grandchildren, Liam and Quinn. He lives on through many organ recipients as well. Knowing that Tim was in fact an organ donor and that several of his organs were viable for transplant somehow gives my family and me a sense of comfort and peace that our loss could bring life and joy to many recipients and their families.

My hope is that the inheritors of Tim’s organs are living full and wonderful lives and that every day is a gift for each and every one of them.
