Together. Saving Lives.

Quilt Square

Created in honor of Freddie Neil Brown

Freddie “Neil” Brown was many things. Man, Brother, Uncle, Father, Grandfather, Husband, hero. It’s hard to imagine how many lives he touched. As a 27-year veteran of the Fayetteville, NC Fire Department, it was routine for Neil to encounter people at their most desperate, most fearful, their most afraid. After being severely burned when he was 14 years old, Neil spent 4 months in the hospital. During his stay he committed himself to ensuring that others wouldn’t suffer as he did. He LOVED his job, and he took his duty seriously. So seriously that both of his sons followed in his footsteps. His commitment to his family and friends came second to nothing. After retirement, Neil would spend most of his time with the ones he loved. Camping with his wife of 41 years, Laura Brown, and his two grandchildren. Neil was taken too soon, but his sense of duty to help people and to save lives continued posthumously. As a tissue donor, Neil helped 23 people in their time of need. In their most desperate hour. There are not enough Neil Browns in the world.
