The quilt square I created for my sister, Julie, is a reflection of many pieces of her life. The background fabric is covered in cats honoring her life as a devoted cat mom. The American Flag in camouflage symbolizes her service in the US Army, both as a nurse, and later, as a civilian journalist. The four stars represent her and her three sisters and the bond she shared with them. Her name shines in sparkling letters, capturing her vibrant personality and her love for all things colorful and beautiful. Angel wings are placed next to her photo to remind us that Julie is now our angel in heaven watching over us with light and love.
