The quilt square represents Timothy Carroll who was a dedicated Amtrak employee for over 35 years and was an avid train enthusiast. The photo in the top center is displayed as a permanent sign over the train tracks near his beloved New Hope Valley Railway for all Amtrak and other trains who pass on those tracks to see. That section of the railway was also renamed “Carroll” in his honor. The yellow circular badge in the bottom middle represents his devotion to railroads and was designed by his “Bearded Villain” brothers, an organization that focuses on helping others, giving back to the community, and building fellowship. The other photos represent his childhood, early career days, love of the beach, and love of playing Santa on the Amtrak each year. I, his sister Tammy, and his family dedicate this square in his honor to remember the life he lived to its fullest, the love he shared with others, and his dedication to his family, community, friends, and railroading.
