We went to Alabama at the time because they were doing children’s transplants. I was able to keep her kidney for 27 years until it started going into rejection at the end of 2009, when I went on peritoneal dialysis. I was on dialysis for 2 ½ years when I received a call on February 18, 2011 to go and have blood work to make sure I was a match for a new kidney.
On February 19, 2011, I received my second kidney transplant. I have had my kidney for nine years and am blessed to have both kidneys from my donors. My tattoo is the meaning of being blessed by God’s gifts to me and that He is always watching over us.
