Quilt Square

Created in honor of Matthew Aulbert

This quilt square was created by Matt’s Grandma, Elaine. Her talent has provided an amazing quilt block that honors our son perfectly.

Matt and his biological brother, Luke, lost their mother suddenly at the ages of 6 and 2 years old. His father remarried and I, Karen, adopted Matt and Luke. I had two sons and the four boys grew up together very close. Matt never called me anything but ‘Mom.’ His love was pure and forever.

Matt was in the high school band as a drummer, got his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Accounting from App State University in Boone, NC. After graduation, he moved home, bought a house, and worked for a CPA Firm. He passed away at his home suddenly from gal bladder complications. No one knew he had any issues. He didn’t want to worry anyone. Riley Reid, Matt’s dog, was found beside him. We love and miss our son with all our hearts.
