Bradley Jamerson: Wild and Full of Life

Donor family

When asked to describe her daddy, little Carrie Jamerson doesn’t miss a beat. “He was crazy,” she said, giggling. “He was wild!”

Bradley Jamerson, who unexpectedly passed away on Aug. 9, 2023, due to a brain bleed, was a devoted husband, father, and notorious jokester.

“We were married for eight years here on Earth, and now we’re celebrating two years in Heaven,” said his wife, Tara Jamerson. “This year would have been our 10th anniversary, but God had other plans. We have a beautiful little girl named Carrie. I got to choose her first name, and he insisted on the middle name—Faith. He always had a smile and could make everyone laugh. He’d even torment the poor cat! Some days I think she still gets nightmares!”

Despite his physical limitations, he was always finding ways to help others. He only had one good arm, but that didn’t stop him—he’d push himself to do whatever he could.

“No matter how difficult it was, he was always trying to help others,” said Tara. “We knew without a shadow of a doubt that becoming an organ donor is what he would have wanted. He would want other people to go on and live life and enjoy it, because he enjoyed life.”

Tara says that, despite the heartbreak, HonorBridge made everything easier during a very difficult time. As a donor, Bradley was able to donate his kidneys, tissue, heart, lungs, and corneas.

“Our experience was absolutely wonderful,” said Tara. “Everyone was so sweet, so nice to us, and they kept us informed about everything. It’s helped with healing a lot. When we heard back from one of his recipients, I actually cried tears of joy. They had received a tissue graft, and I thought how wonderful that was. Someone got his kidneys, and they were able to travel, and another recipient loved cars—and I thought, how ironic, because he loved cars. It was so nice to hear how he has gone on to help people live their lives to the fullest, the way he was able to.”

As the wife of a donor, Tara encourages others to register to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor, and consider the impact organ donation has on others.

“You’d be amazed by the stories you hear,” said Tara. “It’s nice to know that your loved one prolonged someone’s life, or allowed someone to live a full life, or a life well-lived. I think he would have a big old smile on his face and say ‘hey, I made a difference!’”
